The HUN-REN Rényi Institute invites applications for a permanent (tenure) position as Research Mathematician.
The primary criteria for evaluating applications are research excellence, publication quality, and international recognition. Additional considerations include a demonstrated ability to secure research funding, to lead a research group, and to contribute actively to a scientific organization, whether within mathematics in the strict sense or in interdisciplinary fields. The ideal candidate has the potential to obtain and successfully execute an ERC or equivalent grant.
A PhD in mathematics is required. The position carries no teaching duties, and knowledge of Hungarian is therefore not required. The successful applicant will be appointed as a Senior Research Fellow with a minimum monthly salary of HUF 1,000,000.
The position begins on September 1, 2026.
